Kiara moved at a slow and relaxed pace, taking her time to head towards Zuberi River. She smiled as she looked at the river from over a slight hill and then headed towards a low tree, finally finding a place to relax before the sun began to rise. She needed to get away from the Pride sometimes, she was stressed nearly all the time and that was hard for her because she was a new Queen and she needed to relax. She had heard that Outlanders were back in the Outlands and she worried they would cause problems. For many years, Outlanders were not allow into the Pridelands, but since Kovu and the other outlanders had joined the Pride, Kovu and Kiara had talked about trying to bring in the new Outlanders.
Kiara did not want the lions separated, they needed to be One, like the two prides had become over the past few years. So many had joined the Pride and now things were going back down the drain. She did not want another war, she hated fighting and she feared no matter what, it would happen anyway. She let out a breath and then smiled as the sun began to rise, laying her head on her paws, her ears relaxed, her whole body relaxed.

Early morning was the best time to wander the Savanna and relax before everyone else woke up. A tawny figure moved fluidly through the tall Prideland grass, placing each paw gently upon the cool ground. This really was the best time of day--the hot African sun had not yet cast its oppressive heat over the land. The ground was not hot on the paws, the air was not thick with heat, and the cool morning breeze rustled the tall grass and her soft, tawny fur.
In a near-stupor Nala moved toward the Zuberi River, but as she neared it a scent caught her attention, and she stiffened, head shooting up instinctively as she breathed in deeply. Kiara? she thought, tilting her head to one side as she scanned the area for sight of her daughter. A second later her green eyes came to rest on a tawny form relaxing by the river. Eyes bright, Nala moved towards her daughter, walking loudly so as not to sneak up on the young Queen.
The wide river gurgled quietly over the riverbed, music to Nala's ears. She lapped a bit of water from the river before settling herself down beside Kiara, tucking her forepaws beneath her chest and setting her green eyes on her daughter. "Good morning, Kiara," she said quietly, amusement lighting her eyes.

"Now . . . Be patient . . . Watch your prey carefully and wait for the right moment,"
Mheetu offered, crouched low to the ground, bulky form easily crumpling into the tall, dense grass. "You mustn't make any noises that will give you away . . . and keep your butt down," he stated, reaching out and lowering the little white rump back into the tan grass. It was almost laughable at how badly the little white lion cub stood out among the tan grass, no matter how tall the grass got. "Go," he whispered. And with one word, Zahir shot out of the grass, which started the game of chase between himself and the meerkat that had ventured way to far from its pack. The little white cub pounced from place to place, running full out when the meerkat got to far ahead of him. From behind him, he could hear Mheetu roaring with laughter as he watched the scene, though it didn't bother Zahir anymore. He knew Mheetu wasn't laughing at him, but at the scene he was causing, just to get better at hunting due to his coloration. Finally after what seemed like hours, Mheetu called a halt to the hunting game. "Ladies are about," Mheetu stated, already moving off toward the sound of the river. "LADIES!" he suddenly roared, causing Zahir to shake his head. To think such a loveable create was capable of defending a cub from Outlanders and evil meerkats.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Kiara was laying in the nice shade out of the heat of the sun when she saw her mother go get a drink of water. Light shone off of her mothers pelt, making her mother look so young. As Nala walked to Kiara, and layed down she quietly said ' Good morning.' Lifting her head, Kiara smiled, " Good morning mom. How are you? Hows everyone doing?" Kiara had gotten up early and walked down to the river so she really did not know if everyone was doing alright. From what she saw they were doing all right.
Kiara's eyes scanned across the plains, she wondered if both prides were going to be able to come over their differences. She wondered if the prides would be able to come together and live together. But most off all she wondered if the bad land pride would attack. They were a very small pride compared to Kovu's and her pride, but if they did attack there could be problems. It was always in the back of her mind, an attack. But Kiara did not have a chance to think any longer about that when she heard what must have been Mheetu roaring. "LADIES!" Mheetu roared, and Kiara looked to where the sound was coming from, waiting for his body to appear out of the tall grass.

Light green eyes rested on Kiara's relaxed form, trying to read the feelings and thoughts that hovered just beneath the surface. Nala knew her daughter well--she could see the worries and questions of a queen rush through Kiara's head, and stepped forward to give her daughter a lick on the forehead. No one (except, of course, Sarabi) knew as well as Nala how the responsibility of being Queen could rest so heavily upon a lioness's shoulders; Nala still felt those worries even now that she was no longer Queen. Worrying became such a major part of her life that it was nearly impossible to stop now. I do not wish that for you, Kiara, she thought, releasing a heavy sigh as she searched for words to speak. What could she say to comfort the young queen?
Out from the quiet morning came a very familiar, and very loved voice. Trying to hide her cheerfulness, Nala turned seriously toward the sound of the voice, and watched as Mheetu and Zahir moved towards them. "Mheetu," she purred, stepping forward and rubbing her forehead against her brother. Long ago, the two of them had suffered side-by-side beneath the reign of Scar, though Mheetu had certainly had a harder time than she. Trials such as those brought siblings together as nothing else could.
"How is training going?" she asked, flicking Zahir with the end of her long tail.

Seeing his sister with her cub brought great happiness to Mheetu's eyes, as he nuzzled Nala, purring all the while. Though, as normally it went, he watched as Zahir hung back, not wanting to be apart of the exchange with the females. One day, the cub would learn that not all females would leave him like his mother. "The little rascal excels in many areas, but he falters in some,"
he stated, loud enough for Zahir to hear, knowing the young cub would lower his head in sadness at not receiving high remarks from his mentor. "But then again, he is young," he grinned, turning scarlet orbs on Kiara. He was fond of his sister's daughter, though he didn't know her as well as he wished, due to disappearing shortly after her birth and only returning recently. "How you are, today, ladies?" he questioned, sitting back on his rump and slowly lowering himself down. Within a moment of him sitting, Zahir had clambered his way up onto his back and was laying his belly against the back of his mane, with his front paws draped between his ears. "I want to go hunting, Mheetu," Zahir whispered, causing Mheetu to purr. "Take a rest, young cub. Old lions need a break from time to timev" Mheetu returned, crossing his paws and turning his attention back to Nala and Kiara.[/blockquote][/blockquote]
